Principles, Procedures and Protocols For Restorative Implant Dentistry A Two Day Workshop (Module 1: The Partially Edentulous Arch)

SUMMARY: In this course, participants will gain confidence and proficiency in restoring any type of implant connection. Both internal and external connections will be discussed, and advantages and disadvantages of the various types of connections will be analyzed. Participants will also learn when certain connections are indicated or preferred and how to participate in the decision making process with the oral surgeon or periodontist. The management of implants from single units to multiple units in the partially edentulous arch will be discussed. On day one, the lecture will focus on the single missing tooth and will address different types of implant connections and restorative options for these various connections. Also on day one, the hands-on workshop will consist of exercises to allow participants to recognize the difference between all types of implant connections and become familiar with restorative procedures such as impression taking, fabrication of provisional restorations and fastening of definitive abutments and final restorations to these different connections. Digital procedures for restorative implant dentistry will be introduced and digital workflows will be discussed. On day two, the lectures will focus on treatment planning for multiple implants for the partially edentulous arch. The rationale for deciding whether to splint multiple implants or whether to keep them individual will be discussed. Different options for splinting will be presented. The hands-on workshop on day two will include accurate impression-making techniques for multiple implants, and fabricating provisional restorations for multiple implants using different techniques.
